A public costume sale in April saw some of Opera North's most recognisable and loved pieces sold in order to raise money for the new costume department.

Visitors were attracted to the sale via local advertisements and through a piece on BBC's Look North programme.

A total of £36,583.50 was raised over the weekend and on the trade sale day on the Friday. The money will enable the costume department to equip itself in its new home across the road from the theatre.
